Phosphofructokinase Deficiency

Phosphofructokinase(PFK) Deficiency inhibits a Spaniel's ability to convert sugar to energy and will also destroy red blood cells responsible for delivering oxygen and removing waste throughout the body. Affected dogs often exhibit signs of exercise intolerance and will become mildly to moderately anemic.

VetNostic Laboratories’ genetic test for PFK Deficiency can reliably identify dogs that are either clear, or possess one or two copies of the PFK Deficiency causing gene. This clear, carrier, or affected result can help breeders determine which animals to include in their breeding program.

Volume discounts are available for Breeder Clubs, etc. Please contact us for more information.
