Primary Lens Luxation

Primary Lens Luxation (PLL) is a potentially blinding inherited disease in many Terrier breeds. It occurs when the ligaments holding the lens of the eye in place breakdown causing the lens to dislocate. This can result in painful, teary, red eyes that may look hazy or cloudy, and, if not treated, may lead to Uveitis and Glaucoma.

VetNostic Laboratories’ genetic tests for Primary Lens Luxation can reliably identify dogs that are either clear, or possess one or two copies of the PLL causing gene. This clear, carrier, or affected result can help breeders determine which animals to include in their breeding program.

Volume discounts are available for Breeder Clubs, etc. Please contact us for more information.
